Mike Nicholls (Nick Berry) returns to his hometown as harbourmaster, only to get immersed in a salty mix of family feuds and skullduggery. He attends the funeral of Pete, a man that is presumed he could have saved from death; he manages to save another member of the community in a fancy-dress regatta to regain the trust he once had.

Seventeen years after recovering from a brain tumour, Russell Watson joins us to talk about being back to centre stage and how he's written a song to be released after his death.

Aunt Nicholls has a steamy affair with a man that sails into Bridehaven every three months; the common knowledge of the affair leads to confusion when upon the next visit from Paddy, Aunt Nicholls is not distraught at his disappearance. Paddy has a secret of bigamy that Mike and Melanie keep to save Aunt Nicholls any embarrassment.

2. Marie Celeste

Mike is alarmed by the behaviour of a Falklands veteran whose bullying teaching methods are compounded by a strange attitude toward sailing. Meanwhile, Jane Ford considers staying in Bridehaven for good: until the harbourmaster asks ex-lover Melanie to the ball instead of her.

3. Prince Charming

Romance is in the air between Melanie and harbourmaster Mike, who saves a suicidal stranger (Arthur Denton) from death and sends him to stay with Aunt Nicholls. Jane continues with the bingo hall's controversial revamp, and Rita takes the blame for her son's drunken antics: despite the fact it could put her behind bars for a long time.

4. Dead Ends

A Rastafarian birdwatcher ruffles a few feathers among the twitchers drawn to Bridehaven by the sighting of a rare specimen, while Aunt Nicholls is delighted to find a salsa partner for the local finals. Mike misses a dinner date with Melanie and is shocked to learn she's contemplating a transfer to Hartlepool.

5. Baywatch

A leisure development is threatened by pollution and Steve Blade suspects his brother may have something to do with it, while Jane Ford and Mike get closer through work… and play. Mike is lost for words upon learning Melanie has left town.

6. Muckraker

Mike's nemesis, Tony, is overjoyed by his estranged wife Holly's return, but Mike and Jane remain suspicious of her motives and join forces to investigate what she is really up to - becoming very close in the process and throwing Mike's love life into turmoil by kissing him in front of the new barmaid.

7. The Last Supper

Mike and Jane are awkward, both regretting the kiss but too proud to admit it. A bomb hoax truth is revealed and the dubious Blade family get in trouble again.

8. Stranded

The Blades salvage a businessman's cargo of vintage Scotch, leading to a highly-charged game of cat and mouse. Meanwhile, Jane's ex-boyfriend makes an unscheduled appearance, putting the brakes on her prospective relationship with Mike. 

9. Highland Fling

Mike's old Navy pal Danny comes to visit and show gratitude for when Mike saved his life, but it brings back memories of the late Pete. A massive party to celebrate Philip and Jane's engagement goes underway, as a forlorn Mike contemplates a long trip on his faithful boat: until an old flame turns up out of the blue.
