The nationwide search for America's most talented amateur cooks begins. The home cooks that stood out the most are brought back to Los Angeles to audition for our three judges, Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Joe Bastianch. The contestants have one hour to prepare their signature dish in the hopes of winning a coveted apron and compete in the cooking competition of a lifetime.

Episode 1

The auditions continue as Chef Gordon Ramsay, Chef Graham Elliot, and restaurateur Joe Bastianich judge the top amateur cooks from around the country. Each cook will present a signature dish for the three judges. Some will be sent home, while others will earn the coveted Master Chef apron and advance to the next round of the competition.

Episode 2

The top 30 amateur chefs in America have been selected from auditions around the country - now it's time to see if they're worthy of entering the Master Chef kitchen. The cooks are brought to a gigantic warehouse kitchen, where they will be tested on the most basic of culinary skills - their skill with a knife in an onion chop.

Episode 3

The 14 best amateur cooks in the country enter the Master Chef kitchen for the first time. They are met with their first mystery box challenge, where the mystery ingredients are both sweet and savory - and the cooks must decide between making a sweet dessert or a savory entree.

Episode 4

The remaining 12 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first American MasterChef. Split into two teams in the first MasterChef field challenge they battle to feed 100 Marines. With the losing team facing an elimination taste test.

Episode 5

The top 11 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first American MasterChef. Their first challenge finds them face to face with a mystery box full of secret ingredients and only 45 minutes to cook. The winner will choose the dish for the Invention Test, where two contestants will be eliminated.

Episode 6

The remaining 10 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first American MasterChef. In another team challenge the contestants cook hamburgers for hungry truckers. With the losing team facing the dreaded pressure test.

Episode 7

The top 9 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first American MasterChef. The Mystery Box challenge finds them cooking with a special "live" ingredient. The winner is awarded with choosing the key ingredient for a romance-themed Invention Test and it's the end of the road for one more contestant.

Episode 8

The remaining 8 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first American MasterChef. Split into teams they face their biggest challenge yet cooking for 230 wedding guests. With the losing team facing the pressure test and at least one of them being eliminated.

Episode 9

The final 6 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first
 American MasterChef. The Mystery Box challenge finds the amateur cooks preparing a rare and difficult meat that's easy to over-cook. The winner is awarded with choosing the key ingredient for a desert-themed Invention Test where one more contestant is eliminated.

Episode 10

The final 4 amateur cooks from across the country continue their quest for the title of the first American MasterChef. Cooking for three esteemed food critics, the cooks first need to catch their ingredients. 


Episode 11

The final 4 cooks face off against each other to cook the most important dishes of their lives in this semi-final that will see only two progress to the final.
