A hastily assembled crew sets sail from Maine in a luxury yacht which they are delivering to its new owner in Florida. There is immediately conflict and tension amongst the strangers. Then, out of nowhere, a hurricane engulfs them, and rips the boat apart. The life raft blows away, and the five crew are forced to take refuge in a 12 foot inflatable dinghy.

A US Army private is driving to a family funeral with his wife and four-month-old baby son. They get caught in a blizzard, and a simple wrong turn leads them deep into a frozen wilderness where their car gets stuck in a snowdrift.

Three travellers embark on the adventure of a lifetime to explore the uncharted headwaters of the Amazon. They put their trust in a charismatic guide who lures them with promises of forgotten villages, gold and untamed jungle. But the guide is not all he seems and things soon turn sour.

Two best friends set off in sea-going kayaks to tour Washington State's San Juan Islands. One does not admit that he's a complete novice kayaker. Having originally met on the athletics track in school, the friendly competition that brought them together now leads them towards disaster and death.

Landmine clearance specialist Chris Moon and two of his colleagues are ambushed as they work to rid the Cambodian countryside of the deadly remnants of civil war. They are kidnapped by Khmer Rouge guerrillas, the bloodthirsty killers who created the slaughter of the 'killing fields'.

An animal conservationist is chasing poachers in his micro light plane above an African game reserve. He flies lower and lower - trying to lock his tracking device onto a tagged rhino. Suddenly, the plane goes into a wing stall and spirals down into the harsh and deserted plain. With smashed legs he must survive the blistering heat and the terror of the night as hungry predators circle him.

Episode 6, Jaws of Death

Hikers Warren Macdonald and Geert van Keulen meet on a remote island off the east coast of Australia. They decide to climb to the summit of Mt Bowen together. Answering the call of nature during the night, Warren dislodges a huge slab of rock which falls on him. With half his body crushed, Warren is trapped in the riverbed as the rain falls.

Cousins Mark and Rob are on a fishing trip on the Sea of Cortez when they are shipwrecked on a desert island. They are trapped at the bottom of a 100 foot deep canyon. With no food or water and the temperatures soaring, they must survive on an uninhabited island until help arrives.

Life-long friends Jim and Dave are scaling the notorious Elevator Shaft, a sheer ice-wall in the shadow of Mount Johnson, Alaska. A great slab of ice breaks away, taking Jim with it. He survives but is badly injured. Dave reluctantly leaves his friend to find help.

Lt Colonel Mike Couillard is a US Air Force pilot based in Turkey who goes for a day's skiing with his ten-year-old son, Matthew. In a freak snowstorm they lose the marked trail and get hopelessly lost.

Three men set out to film a live volcano in Hawaii for the closing shots of the thriller Silver. Through clouds of sulphur dioxide they drop down into the crater. Dense smoke curls up around the camera lens, molten lava flames below. Suddenly the helicopter shudders and crashes.

Episode 11, Escape from the Volcano

Flying to Mexico for a father-son fishing weekend, four men have to ditch their small plane over the Sea of Cortez during a freak storm. It slams into rough seas at 60mph.

Episode 12, Adrift in the Dark

A routine business trip in Botswana turns to disaster when a plane crashlands in the Kalahari. All five passengers survive, but they soon realise that the real terror is on the ground.
