Steve Leonard presents the series in which British veterinary students learn about being a wildlife vet in South Africa. The students are helping head vet Dr Will Fowlds move four buffalo from a holding facility. Two are moved successfully and then Sam from Cambridge University takes over as team leader. Sam is already a qualified vet so Will and Steve want to see how he shapes up. One of the buffalo is dealt with smoothly but the other is in danger of choking - and Steve notes that he had expected Sam to take more control of the situation. The following morning Will brings the students to a local community where they will be running a free health clinic. A dog is brought in with severe mouth abscesses and needs an operation - Sam's first ever. But it goes well and the animal makes a full recovery. Back at the lodge Will has planned a surprise quiz and Sam is awarded the prize - looking after a three-month-old orphaned serval kitten for the night
