A significant rise in the number of domestic abuse incidents reported to police in Scotland has been welcomed as a sign that victims are no longer prepared to suffer in silence. The number of calls made to Scottish forces went up by seven percent last year, with a complaint coming in every ten minutes. Campaigners have called the increase a step in the right direction. In other news; Women should be warned that breast cancer screening might end in surgery that will do them no good at all. An official review found that around 4000 women undergo aggressive treatment that they don't need. However it’s recommended that women continue to have mammograms as they save more than 1300 lives every year. And in sport; Hearts boss John McGlynn believes the Scottish Premier League would be a better competition without Celtic. McGlynn says Rangers absence from the top flight this season has made it more exciting. And he reckons fans would fill every SPL ground if Celtic weren't in the league either.
