The partner of a man kicked to death in an alleged racist attack, has told a murder trial jury how she thought his attackers were breaking a piece of furniture in the street. Ann Marie Newlands wept as she described how she saw two Asian men kicking and stamping on something from the window of her flat. It was only when she went down to the street she saw that the men had been kicking 57 year-old William McKeeney. In other news; the debate between Johann Lamont and Alex Salmond over the future of universal benefits in an age of austerity took a new twist today when the Labour leader launched a strong personal attack on the First Minister. She accused him of not living in the real world. He accused her of being a Tory. And in sport; Fraser Forster will use his first ever call up to the England squad as an incentive to continue improving his game. The goalkeeper has been named in Roy Hodgson's pool for the world cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland, but there's no place in the squad for team-mate Gary Hooper. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
