An investigation is underway tonight after two teenage girls hanged themselves within days of each other at a home for vulnerable young people near Dumbarton. Sammy-Joe McGeachy and Catherine Bradley were both residents at the Blue Triangle unit in Bonhill. West Dunbartonshire Council has launched an investigation, but a local MSP is calling for a fatal accident inquiry to be held. In other news: The man chosen to lead Scotland's new national police force has said its creation could result in the loss of more than 3000 jobs. The cuts will affect civilian staff whose jobs have been duplicated when all the forces merge next year. Unions say it would be "the beginning of a disaster for Scottish policing." The clear up is underway after one of the worst September storms in decades. Homes and businesses are counting the cost after torrential rain and gale force winds battered the country. In some parts of Fife, people were evacuated from their homes overnight after they were flooded. And in sports: Ally McCoist admits his side will adopt a siege mentality in tonight's Cup tie against Motherwell. Rangers will face SPL opposition for the first time since they started again in the Third Division, and face a tough test against the SPL leaders. Motherwell boss Stuart McCall says he isn't looking forward to their visit to Ibrox. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
