In what could prove to be one of the most important speeches by a Party leader since devolution, Scottish Labour Leader Johann Lamont has warned that a whole range of benefits from free tuition fees, prescriptions, bus passes and free personal care could have to be axed as the age of austerity bites. She has asked a Party committee to provide policy options for her ahead of the next election when Labour could be ready to put some unpalatable choices before the voters. In other news: Scotland's prosecution service has reacted angrily after campaigners claimed the conviction of the Lockerbie bomber was Scotland's "Hillsborough." The Justice for Megrahi group claims crucial evidence against the Libyan was faked and must have been planted. The Crown Office has called the allegations "defamatory and entirely unfounded." Storm force winds and torrential rain have been battering the east of the country, causing widespread damage and disruption. Flooding and gales of up to seventy miles an hour have made driving conditions treacherous, with uprooted trees closing some main roads. Trains on the east coast mainline have also been severely disrupted by flooding. And in sports: Ally McCoist says there's no chance of former Ibrox players returning their championship medals - if asked - following the conclusion of an investigation into the club's use of EBTs. Rangers have been told they could be stripped of titles if found to have breached SPL rules, but McCoist says any retrospective action would be a pointless task. Steven Naismith could be banned for Scotland's next 3 games after FIFA opened disciplinary proceedings against the forward. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
