Many doubted whether he would ever do it. Last night Andy Murray proved them wrong and- at his fifth attempt- won his first Grand Slam trophy. He beat the World Number 2, Novak Djokovic at the US Open in New York. It's another historic achievement to add to Britain's summer of sport. In other news, the bodies of two men have been found in a reservoir after they went missing on a fishing trip in Midlothian. Fifty nine year old David Archibald and fifty six year old Andrew Conlon, who're both from Dalkeith, had been out on a regular Sunday fishing trip at Gladhouse Reservoir, but failed to return home. Their bodies were recovered following a major search operation. Police say it appears to have been a tragic accident. Meanwhile, eight people were taken to hospital after a minibus crashed into trees on the M8 near Shotts. The bus carrying 10 passengers left the eastbound motorway connecting Glasgow and Edinburgh at around ten to seven this morning. A 60-year-old man was airlifted to the Southern General Hospital. Seven people were later released from hospital following treatment. And, a man has been jailed for life for stabbing a 21-year-old to death during a drunken fight in Lanarkshire. William Doyle knifed Mark Shaw through the heart in December last year in the street brawl in Mary Rae Road in Bellshill. Also in sport, tonight's world cup qualifier against Macedonia and Craig Levein has made 3 changes to the team that drew with Serbia at the weekend. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
