Government ministers have faced an angry demonstration by campaigners against the legalisation of same sex marriage. Members of the Scottish cabinet were booed and jeered by a group of more than 150 people outside a public meeting in Renfrew. Afterwards the First Minister Alex Salmond re-affirmed his personal support for the change. An explosion at a building site has hurled rocks and debris at nearby homes and vehicles. Police said the blast in Eaglesham at around half past 2 this afternoon had caused "extensive damage" to surrounding houses. In other news, a court has heard that a pensioner killed while trying to stop his car being stolen, suffered unsurvivable crushing injuries. Christopher Grenfell denies murdering James Simpson outside his home in Ashgill in Lanarkshire last year. And finally in sport, Stuart McCall is promising that Motherwell will adopt the Scottish approach against the silky skills of Levante tonight. The Steelmen host the Spaniards at Fir Park in the first leg of their Europa League play-off, with a place in the group stages up for grabs.
