A retired detective superintendent has said Fife Police made "serious and basic" mistakes during an investigation into the death of a 23-year-old man following a row with his girlfriend. The force decided Colin Marr had committed suicide after he died from a single stab wound to his chest. The detective who has reviewed the case said it should have been treated as a suspicious death from the very start. Also in the news; Olympic fever is gripping the nation, and so far there's been a mixture of success and disappointment in Team GB. The good news is that the Scots within the team have been performing well with rower Kathryn Grainger breaking the Olympic record in her heat this morning. And in sport; the new SPL season kicks off this weekend with Champions Celtic unveiling the league flag and it looks set to be another season of turmoil on and off the park.
