Detectives are investigating the possibility that a gang of youths travelled from Glasgow to Milngavie at the weekend to start a fight, resulting in the death of a local man. Thirty-one year-old Scott Stirling's body was found in a river by a man walking his dog. Another man sustained serious head injuries. A third man has appeared in court in connection with the incident. In other news; Plans to lower the drink-drive limit in Scotland have been given a cautious welcome by road safety campaigners. Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said the proposals will be brought forward later this year. The move would bring Scotland into line with Germany, France and Spain but would see drivers here facing stricter limits than those in England. And in sport; STV News can reveal the SPL have granted Rangers a "period of grace" to meet their membership criteria to play in Scotland's top flight next season.
