The families of hundreds of Scots workers affected by asbestos-related cancer are a step closer to compensation. The Supreme Court has ruled that insurers are liable for when employees were exposed to asbestos dust, even if they only became ill many years later. In other news: the Scottish Government says numeracy skills among primary school pupils are improving, thanks to the new Curriculum for Excellence; detectives investigating the murder of Perthshire pensioner Jenny Methven have detained a man; and in sport, Celtic have been charged by UEFA after fans displayed an offensive banner and set off fireworks during December’s Europa League match against Udinese in Italy. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
