Drug users are being warned about the dangers of "pink ecstacy" after a teenager from Stirling died. Officers believe the 17-year-old's death may be linked to the drug, which is stronger than the tablets usually in circulation. They're working with health officials and voluntary groups to raise awareness. The sister of the Scottish Parliament's presiding officer has been killed in a fire at her home in Dunfermline. 60-year old Maureen Brown died in the blaze in the town's Husband Place on Monday. Her sister, MSP Tricia Marwick said it was a devastating blow for the family. A former policewoman sentenced to a year in jail for failing to arrest a suspected thief has been freed after spending just six days in prison. A judge ruled 38-year-old Michelle Selby should be released, pending the outcome of an appeal against her sentence. She will not be contesting the original verdict of attempting to defeat the ends of justice. The Scottish Government has announced it will give 2.2 million pounds in funding to Scottish-based aid agencies working on the ground in Africa. Almost £700,000 will go towards humanitarian efforts in drought stricken East Africa where thousands of malnourished children are dying.
