The Prime Minister repeated his determination to fight for the Union today, but the row over the staging of the independence referendum intensified tonight. During his speech to the Conservative Party Conference, David Cameron declared he would meet the First Minister next week to finalise the arrangements but the First Minister stressed that no deal has been done. The owners of Halls of Broxburn have extended their deadline for bids from potential buyers - raising hopes that some of the seventeen-hundred jobs at the plant can be saved. In other news, Tayside Police has received an allegation of abuse against the late broadcaster Jimmy Saville. The force says a woman reported an historical incident, said to have taken place in Liverpool. And finally in sports, former Hearts and Scotland defender Stephen Pressley has backed Craig Levein to carry on as National Team Manager even if his side loses to Wales this Friday. Defeats to the Welsh cost Scotland bosses George Burley and Berti Vogts their jobs but the Falkirk manager insists Levein is under no pressure. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
