In three hours time Andy Murray will attempt to turn his Olympic gold into Grand Slam glory when he bids to become the first British man for seventy-six years to lift the US Open trophy. In other news: Andy Murray's fellow Olympic team-mates received a rousing heroes welcome in London this afternoon. Thousands lined the streets to honour a golden generation of Olympians and paralympians. The widow of a man found dying in the street nearly a month ago, has appealed for anyone with information to "do the decent thing" and help police catch her husband's killer. John McMurchie died in hospital, after he was discovered with serious injuries in Dundee. The Department of Transport didn't follow its own rules when it decided that FirstGroup should replace Virgin, as the operator of the West Coast Main line. Westminster's Transport Committe was told this afternoon by Virgin Chairman, Sir Richard Branson, that First Group submitted a risky bid which undermines the interests of commuters. A new awareness campaign has been launched to help prevent suicide and tackle the stigma that surrounds mental health. Over seven-hundred people took their own lives in Scotland last year and experts say friends and family have a role to play in spotting the warning signs. And in sports: Macedonia head coach Chedomir Janevski has warned Scotland his side are heading into tomorrow's World Cup qualifier at Hampden with plenty of confidence after narrowly losing to top seeds Croatia. Rangers have refused to co-operate with the SPL's inquiry into alleged undisclosed payments to players, by a previous Ibrox regime. The SPL's independent commission into the matter is due to take place tomorrow and Wednesday. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
