The Scottish public are being asked for their views on a new drink drive limit, which would make it illegal to get behind the wheel after more than a single pint of beer or glass of wine. The proposed limit is roughly a third less than the current level, which has been in force since the 1960s. The Government says the cut will save lives. In other news; parents are being warned about the dangers of liquid washing tablets after a number of children ended up in hospital after mistaking them for sweets. Five toddlers have been admitted to hospital in Glasgow over the past eighteen months suffering from chemical burns, after biting into the capsules. In local news; a six and a half million pound security extension to the Scottish Parliament has been given the go-ahead. Advisers say the public entrance is too close to the debating chamber and they want to create an external facility to the south of the current entrance. The cost will be met from "existing resources" by postponing other projects. And; a man has been taken to hospital after a fire in the bedroom of a flat in Edinburgh. Firefighters were called to the first-floor property in Ramsay Place, in Portobello, early this morning. Two men were rescued and one was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary suffering from severe smoke inhalation. Also in sport; Andy Murray insists he can capitalise on an erratic Thomas Berdych and reach the Final of the US Open. Murray blasted past Maran Cilic in the early hours of this morning to set up a semi final date with the Czech - after at one point looking on his way out. Yet again, Murray thanked the Flushing Meadow crowd for playing a key part.
