The search for the body of a father, missing after a canoe capsized in a Highland sea loch killing three young children, has been stood down for a third night. Thirty-two year-old Ewen Beaton from Beauly was in the boat when it overturned in Loch Gairloch on Sunday afternoon. A murder trial has been halted for a second time, after the presiding judge discovered he was related, by marriage, to the alleged victim's family. The first trial, involving the same case, was stopped after another judge realised she knew one of the witnesses. A third attempt to reach a verdict will now take place in October. In other news, concern for patient's safety has been voiced after it was revealed the number of NHS nurses and midwives has hit a seven year low. The cuts come despite increasing demands on the under-pressure service. The Scottish Government say they're re-investing savings in frontline services. And finally in sport, Pat Fenlon says he won't get carried away with Hibernian's form despite taking seven points from the last nine. His team leave the SPL campaign to one side this evening for a visit to Queen of the South in the League Cup and the manager is encouraged by the progress made so far this season.
