A cancer drug which reportedly helped keep the Lockerbie bomber alive for an extra two-and-a-half years is to made available here on the NHS. Up until today, Scotland was the only part of the UK where patients with prostate cancer had to pay for Abiraterone. The therapy is not a cure, but can improve the quality of life for those in advanced stages of the disease. In other news, the Edinburgh International Book Festival will tomorrow hear the results of a project which has been exploring Scotland's genetic make-up. DNA has revealed that we come from all over the world - even from as far a field as Siberia. And there is some startling news for people who live in Alloa. And in sport; Peter Houston says the inclusion of Ian Black in the Scotland squad is not a one off and is justified because of his form for Hearts last season. While the Rangers midfielder has been called up for the friendly against Australia, his team-mate Lee Wallace was overlooked after manager Craig Levein said it'd be difficult for a player to raise his game from the 3rd division to international level. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
