Two men will stand trial in November accused of murdering a 48-year-old man by shooting him in the face in East Renfrewshire. At the high court in Glasgow, James McCarron from Shropshire and Francis Coates, who is described as a prisoner in Greenock Prison, denied killing John Finnegan in Neilston last October. They also deny firearms charges. In other news; ferry workers are threatening strike action over pay and conditions, if state owned ferry services are privatised. The government is preparing to put routes operated by Caledonian MacBrayne out to tender. The RMT union is worried private companies will cherry-pick the busiest services, but a spokesman insists that won't be the case. And in sport; Hearts manager John McGlynn says he's hoping Celtic will become complacent without Rangers in the SPL giving clubs like Hearts who will be challenging for second place a shot at the title. The Tynecastle boss also revealed today that it's unlikely Rudi Sckacel will make a return to the club.
