The Scottish economy has slipped back into recession. Figures released today show GDP fell by nought point one per cent in the first three months of this year. It means Scotland, like the rest of the UK, has fallen into a double-dip recession, with a decline in the construction industry to blame. Tonight the First Minister called on the UK government to take urgent action to stimulate growth. In other news: The remains of an RAF pilot have been recovered from the site of a crash involving two Tornado aircraft in the Moray Firth; More organised criminal gangs have been tackled by the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency than ever before. In sport: The SPL says it won't be issuing Dunfermline with a full written explanation as to why Dundee were invited to join the league. The Fife club demanded answers from the governing body over the decision to promote first division runners up Dundee to the top flight, ahead of Dunfermline who finished bottom of the SPL last term.
