The increasingly bitter row over plans to legalise same sex marriage escalated with the Catholic Church calling for a refererendum on the issue. And today at the Scottish Cabinet meeting, responses to the marriage equality consultation were discussed. No firm decision has been reached on the way forward but campaigners say it's vital the government takes a lead. In other news; A group of charities have joined together to bring a ban on parents smacking their own children back on to the political agenda. 'Children are Unbeatable' are campaigning for young people to have the same protection against physical violence as adults. They have spoken out as the Scottish Government seeks views on childrens' rights ahead of a new bill. And in sport; As a free agent, Ian Black has plenty of time to spend with his daughter. The former hearts midfielder had reached an agreement to join Rangers IF they were admitted into the first division - That didn't happen but Black insists he'd still be open to a move to the Ibrox club.
