The Halls factory in West Lothian, which employs seventeen-hundred people, could be forced to close in an attempt to stem huge losses. The Broxburn plant, which processes Scottish pork, told staff the devastating news this lunchtime. Dutch firm, Vion, which owns the factory, said it was beginning a ninety-day consultation exercise with unions and workers.
