A sheriff has criticised a care home and a GP practice over the death of an elderly resident in the Highlands with bed sores so severe they'd rotted to the bone. Eighty-seven year-old Jamesina MacKenzie was being treated at a home in Dingwall when her health deteriorated. A Fatal Accident Inquiry found that had various "reasonable precautions" been taken, the retired vet's death could have been avoided. In other news; The Crown Office has confirmed that an investigation into the Scottish banking sector has been under way for some time and will now be extended. The Serious and Organised Crime Division is leading the probe. The announcement comes after Barclays chief executive Bob Diamond resigned in the wake of the rate-fixing scandal. The Royal Bank of Scotland is also one of several others being investigated over alleged attempts to manipulate the rate at which banks lend to each other. And in sport; Billy Brown says he has his sights set on management after being released by Hibs as assistant to Pat Fenlon last week. Brown says he was surprised at the Easter Road club's ecision not to keep him and annoyed at the short notice. This episode has been edited for rights reasons.
