It's understood plans are being put in place for Charles Green's newco Rangers to drop down to Division One next season, as part of a restructuring of Scottish football. But already several First Division teams have stated their objection to allowing a newco to play in Scotland's second tier. The news comes as 13 players reported back for pre-season training. In other news: Flooding and landslides have cut off both main rail lines connecting Scotland and England; Four men have denied abducting, torturing and murdering missing financial adviser Lynda Spence. In sport: Proposals to allow Rangers to play in the First Division next season are unlikely to be approved by SFL clubs in their current form. They'll meet on Tuesday to discuss the plans - with Dunfermline announcing today they will be voting against. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
