A Dundee man is facing a murder trial at the High Court in the city early next year. Jamie Cumming is accused of stabbing 29 year old James Getty in Mains Road in June this year. Cumming faces a separate charge of assaulting Mr Getty in the Maltman pub, by punching him on the head. He appeared at the High Court in Glasgow today, where trial was set for February in Dundee. In other news: A seventy year old man has admitted brandishing an axe at a woman in Fife. Stephen Watt pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at an address in Ladybank in August. Sentence was deferred at Cupar Sheriff Court for background reports. A charity new to Scotland is helping to support the families of soldiers killed in action. One of the benefactors is Fife based Jane Duffy, whose son died in Afghanistan. Forces Support carries out domestic work for the bereaved who often don't get other help. Dental staff and students at Dundee Univeristy are raising awareness of mouth cancer, to alert more people to the early warning signs. They're giving out oral health advice to the public, to coincide with a nationwide awareness week. Scotland has the highest incidence of the disease anywhere in the UK. Smoking, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol and poor diet can all put people at risk. And in sports: The SFA board have spent the day at a secret location discussing Levein's position. With Scotland's World Cup campaign all but over after just four games a large section of the tartan army are demanding a change. It remains to be seen whether the SFA will back him, or sack him.
