Scotland is preparing up for a massive financial windfall when it hosts the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in Perthshire in two years' time. First Minister Alex Salmond was handed the ceremonial baton of the host nation at the closing ceremony at Medinah, in America last night. Three hundred and fifty workers have been made redundant across Scotland by administrators called in to sports firm JJB. Twenty five branches including two in Aberdeen, and one in Perth closed today - four others including Elgin have been sold to rival firm SportsDirect. In other news, a lorry driver who killed a man in a crash on the A9 in Perthshire after failing to take sufficient rest has been warned he faces a jail sentence. And finally in sport, Europe's golfers are continuing to bask in the glory of last night's sensational Ryder Cup win. After helping Jose Maria Olazabal's men come from behind to beat the USA in Chicago, Aberdeen's Paul Lawrie simply said 'it doesn't get any better'.
