The search for the body of a father missing after a canoe capsized in a Highland sea loch killing three young children has been stood down for a third night. 32 year old Ewen Beaton from Beauly, was in the boat when it overturned in Loch Gairloch on Sunday afternoon. In other news; A jury in the trial of a man accused of killing a pensioner by running him over with his own car, has been urged to 'divorce themselves of emotion' and find him NOT guilty of murder. In local news; a clean up operation is underway in a Perthshire village after heavy rain caused a river to burst its banks, flooding dozens of properties. Some residents had to be rescued from their homes. Roads resembled rivers in parts of Comrie last night. After hours of torrential rain the Ruchill, which is a tributary of the River Earn, burst its banks. And; Murder squad detectives in Dundee say they still have no motive for the brutal killing of a father of five, sixteen days after he was found stabbed to death. John McMurchie, from Errol, was discovered lying in a street in the Longhaugh area of the city in the early hours of August the 12th. Officers are hoping results from forensics tests - due back this week - will provide a breakthrough. They are now trying to trace two people who were in the area shortly before Mr McMurchie's body was found. Also in sport; Tennis and Andy Murray has booked his place in the second round of the US Open following a patchy performance at a hot and humid Arthur Ashe Stadium. Last night the Scot beat Alex Bogomolov in three straight sets but not before he had lost his opening two service games. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
