There's been a furious backlash from prominent business leaders in Aberdeen after councillors yesterday dismissed multi-million pound plans to transform the centre of the city. Opponents hailed a victory for common sense. Others branded it a disgrace and called on the Labour-led administration to resign. The Scottish Government recorded ITS disappointment. Meanwhile; Aberdeen Football club say plans to move to a new 38 million pound stadium have been effectively 'killed off' by the local authority. The council has rejected plans for a new sports complex which would have doubled as the SPL club's training ground. In local news; Council officials are stressing there's no risk to the public after legionella bacteria was found at a Dundee community centre. The bug was discovered in shower heads at a centre in Menzieshill earlier this month. The area's since been deep-cleaned and the water system treated. As a precautionary measure, new showers will be installed. And; a motorcylist killed in a crash in Perthshire has been named. 41 year old David Roberts from Stanley died when his Ducati bike collided with a car on the A85 near Comrie late yesterday morning. He'd been travelling towards Comrie, a short distance behind the Jaguar car, which pulled into a driveway then back onto the road. Also in sport; after losing two one to Aberdeen last weekend, St Johnstone have plundered the Dons in a bid to bolster their squad. Winger Peter Pawlett has swapped Pittodrie for Perth, after moving to McDiarmid Park on loan until the end of the year. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
