STV Cameras were in court today to film the sentencing of a killer to life in prison. It was a legal first that made Scottish courts the focus of UK-wide attention. The killer, David Gilroy, was sentenced to life after a jury had convicted him of the murder of his former lover Suzanne Pilley. Our cameras showed the judge ordering that Gilroy should serve at least 18 years, and urging him to reveal where he had hidden her body. Dundee Airport will come to a standstill later this month after staff voted in favour of a twenty four hour strike. The industrial action, which involves fire-fighters, air traffic control and fuelling staff is due to take place the week after next and will be followed with an overtime ban. Alex Salmond says Dundee will be a template for the success of the SNP in Scotland at the council elections next month. The SNP took control of Dundee in 2009 and he says it's now at the vanguard of their hopes for the rest of the country. One of the main routes in and out of Dundee was closed today after a three car crash. Two men were taken to Ninewells Hospital following the collision on Riverside Avenue. Neither is thought to have been seriously hurt. St Andrews University has become the first in the UK to have a professional composer in residence. A series of new scores is being created for the student orchestra, as part of celebrations to mark the institution's 600th anniversary. It's hoped the commissions will leave a lasting legacy for future generations of budding musicians in the Fife town. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
