Aberdeen's long awaited bypass got the green light today after campaigners lost their appeal to the UK's Supreme Court. The decision has been greeted with jubilation by business leaders and politicians who say the new route will create fourteen thousand jobs and generate six billion pounds for the local economy. In other news; it’s emerged that a pilot ditched a helicopter into the North Sea because of a faulty warning light, All 14 onboard the Super Puma aircraft were rescued after the aircraft ditched into the sea in May. An official report into the incident has concluded a supposed faulty component had in fact been fully operational. And in sport; Aberdeen striker Niall McGinn says he'll struggle to top, scoring for Northern Ireland in last night's World Cup draw in Portugal. On the night Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his one hundredth cap for the hosts, McGinn stole the headlines. He showed great composure on the half hour to fire Michael O'Neills men into a shock lead. However they were denied a famous win, when Helder Postiga levelled late on. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
