The death of a six-week-old baby who was murdered in Aberdeen by her mother's boyfriend could NOT have been predicted. A significant case review into the death of Alexis Matheson concluded it was unlikely NHS staff could have prevented her death. In other news; The Finance Secretary John Swinney has hinted that he expects other employers to end the pay freeze for public sector workers. His comments follow yesterday's budget statement to Parliament. However Unions are planning coordinated action, angered that Ministers want a 1% pay cap for wages from next year. In local news; A partnership involving the north east's premier meat processing businesses has been unveiled. The agreement will bring together three of the industry's most prominent companies, but there will be job losses. Meanwhile; The Scottish Courts Service has begun a three-month consultation, outlining plans to close eleven sheriff courts including those in Dornoch, Dingwall, Arbroath, and Stonehaven. Business from these courts would be transferred to neighbouring districts. The Law Society of Scotland says the move threatens access to justice. Also in sport; Barry Smith says there's a belief amongst his Dundee side they CAN get something at Celtic tomorrow. They prop up the SPL, but head south looking to add to the Champions poor start to the domestic campaign. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide.
