The official victory parade's been taking place for Scotland's Olympic and Paralympic sportsmen and women. Thousands of people lined the streets of Glasgow to welcome home the athletes, including six-time gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy. Scottish athletes won a record-breaking 14 medals at the London Olympics and 11 medals at the Paralympics. In other news; nearly half of all elderly residents in care homes may be getting sedatives to make them easier to look after. That's according to a controversial new report by Dundee University, which also says many people are probably taking the drugs for much longer than necessary. And in sport; there’s SPL action at Tannadice tonight as Dundee United host Ross County. With both sides just two points behind leaders Motherwell, the winners will, albeit possibly temporarily, top the table. County are looking to extend their unbeaten league run to an incredible forty games. This international version of STV News at Six is viewable world-wide. It has been edited for rights reasons, which also allows us to keep the programme online after the initial 24-hour broadcast window in the UK has passed. Viewers within the UK who want to watch the full episode 'as broadcast' should select the UK version of the programme.
