Police probing the death of an eighty year old Perthshire woman have tonight launched a murder inquiry. It comes after a post-mortem on the body of Janet Methven, who was found dead at her isolated cottage in the village of Forteviot near Perth on Monday evening. In other news; Bad for policing, bad for Scotland. A warning today from the country's top policeman about the impact a 22 million pound VAT bill could have on the new, SINGLE force. Chief Constable Kevin Smith also cautioned against prioritising multi-million pound cuts over reforming the service.
