The bonus package for the Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive is coming under immense criticism tonight. Politicians of all parties are calling on Steven Hester to turn it down, while the opposition say the government should have stopped it. He's due to be awarded shares worth almost one million pounds. RBS says the bonus recognises the "substantial progress" the bank has made under his leadership. In other news; The trade union unison are theatening industrial action over plans to axe up to two thousand police support jobs. The move to a single force means posts will go in order to meet long-term cost savings. But the unions claim the move threatens the lower crime levels that have been recorded in recent years. And in sport; Tennis and Andy Murray says he's closed the gap on World number 1 Novak Djokovic despite losing a thrilling semi-final in Australia. Murray led by 2 sets to 1 but ultimately the Serbian was just too strong and clinched the match in five sets and will meet Rafa Nadal in Sunday's final in Melbourne. This is an international version of the news that may have been edited for rights reasons.
